Milk pricing and the makeup of milk prices, premiums, and marketing costs on farms continues to be of interest as we face increasing variability from year to year. To study this topic further, we are again conducting a study utilizing milk checks received on farms, the eighth time that we have conducted this study and which hundreds of farms have participated in the past.
This year, Pro-Dairy is partnering with the Center of Dairy Profitability at University of Wisconsin, working with Dr. Mark Stephenson, to conduct this project. With milk checks being submitted from both New York and Wisconsin, differences within and across states can be analyzed.
To participate in the study this year, please send us the final settlement check(s) for milk produced in March, 2013. This would be the check(s) received in the middle of April. We only need to final or settlement check received in April for March production. Checks received for advanced March production are not needed.
By having actual copies of your milk check(s) we will be able to accurately look at the prices received on farms and the associated milk marketing costs. All information will be held in strict confidence, and no individual farm data will be reported in any manner. You will receive a personalized report for your milk check with comparisons to farms by location and by milk shipped for the month. To view a sample farm report click here. You will also receive the report on state averages on milk prices, premiums and marketing costs.
